BANGALORE: More trouble awaits former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa as the Supreme Court on Friday directed the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) on Environmental Matters to look into the allegations against him and other major corporate entities in connection with illegal mining.Hearing the Interlocutory Application filed by the Karnataka-based NGO Samaj Parivarthan Samudaya (SPS),  seeking an extension of the ongoing CBI probe into illegal mining in Karnataka, the Forest Bench of the Apex Court has directed the CEC to submit its report within two weeks. The plea was considered by the court after the applicant P Vishnu Kamat referred to former Lokayuka Justice Santosh Hegde’s report on illegal mining.Speaking to Express, Kamat said, among other charges against BSY, the court has asked CEC to look into the case relating to alleged donations of Rs 10 crore paid by Jindal South West Mining Company to a trust run by the former CM’s kin, and the purchase of a land owned by them in Bangalore by paying Rs 20 crore. Both these charges were highlighted in the Lokayukta report.
