GULBARGA: The Central University of Karnataka will hold its first convocation on January 28, 2012, at the S M Pandit Ranga Mandira of Gulbarga, official sources told The New Indian Express here on Wednesday. The Central University has invited President of India Pratibha Patil, who is also the Chancellor of Central Universities, to chair the Central University of Karnataka’s first convocation. The Central University has not yet received any confirmation from the President. Vice-President Abdul Hamid Ansari will chair the convocation in case the President is not available on the date. About thirty candidates will be awarded degrees, and Honorary Doctorate degrees may be given to three dignitaries, sources told Express. The names of the chief guests for the convocation, however, are yet to be finalised.
