JAGGAMPETA (EG): Chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday accused Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Nara Chandrababu Naidu of ruining the agriculture sector.Launching the second phase of Rachabanda programme here, he said the former chief minister who felt shy of uttering the word ryot, totally neglected the welfare of farmers during his nine-year regime.Now, Naidu is trying to woo farmers by launching Rythu Porubata. The TDP chief who claimed himself as a kingmaker during the NDA regime at the Centre, failed to get the  minimum support price for major crops increased. The TDP chief has no moral right to speak about farmers’ problems, Kiran Kumar said.  After the Congress-led UPA came to power at the Centre in 2004, it increased the minimum support price for paddy to `1,110 per quintal. The chief minister said he urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to announce a bonus of `120 per quintal of paddy keeping in view the rise in cultivation costs.  “I am not interested in speaking about TDP  chief Chandrababu Naidu. But it is inevitable to speak about the opposition leader,” the chief minister said.Kiran Kumar said his government was committed to completing the Indira Sagar Project at the earliest. About 7.5 lakh acres of additional land could be brought under cultivation with the execution of Polavaram irrigation project. Apart from bringing additional land under cultivation, the Polavaram project would stabilise 27 lakh acres of ayacut, he said. Finance minister Anam Ramanarayan Reddy, stamps and registration minister Thota Narasimham, animal husbandry minister Pinipe Viswaroop, Rajya Sabha member T Ratnabai, Rajahmundry MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar, MLAs, MLCs and officials were present.
