City cops to provide tight security for Yatra

BANGALORE: With two-mega events scheduled for Sunday in the city, the police have geared up to provide fool-proof security to the events. For BJP leader L K Advani’s ‘Jana Chetana Yatra’, 1,500 policemen have been deployed for the security.Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, city’s Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji said that fool-proof security arrangements have been made to avert any untoward incident during the rally. “We have received information from the Government of India, Intelligence Bureau and State intelligence and accordingly the security measures have been taken. However, there is no specific threat to the event. We have formed special teams to gather intelligence and commandos will also be deployed to guard the event,” Mirji said.Regarding the other major event, ‘Rock in India‘ by heavy metal band Metallica at Palace Grounds, Mirji said, “Certain inconveniences are common in any major event and youth should behave in a controlled manner. If situation goes out of hand they will be at loss as they cannot enjoy the show.”
