BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday hit back at the Opposition parties saying they are levelling false charges against him. “They are in the habit of making false allegations against me,” Naveen told mediapersons to a question on the Opposition demand for his resignation over the hooch tragedy. Because of the ongoing panchayat elections, the false allegations are louder this time, he alleged.  The Opposition Congress and the BJP have been demanding resignation of Naveen ever since the tragedy struck. However, they upped the ante after the resignation of    AU Singhdeo. President of OPCC Niranjan Patnaik and BJP State president Jual Oram have been demanding resignation of Naveen on moral grounds. If Singhdeo could resign on moral grounds why not the Chief Minister, the OPCC chief asked.  Oram said if ministers could be axed for their fault, the same yardstick should  apply for the Chief Minister too.NCTC: The Chief Minister said he has written a letter to the Prime Minister demanding a review of Home Ministry order for operationalisation of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). Naveen said he did it following a telephonic discussion with his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee.  In fact, Mamata Banerjee called up Naveen and told him about the ‘draconian’ provisions in the NCTC which will infringe the state authority.
