PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry Collector and Director of the Project Implementation Agency (PIA) G Ragesh Chandra was granted anticipatory bail on Friday by a designated court in Puducherry in the case pertaining to alleged irregularities in the construction of houses under the Tsunami Rehabilitation Project.Ragesh Chandra, who applied for anticipatory bail on August 17, in the  Principal Sessions Court, appeared in person before Principal Sessions Judge T Ramaswamy on Friday. After surrendering before the court, the judge recorded his presence and released him on bail after he produced two sureties for Rs 10,000 each to Muthu, Superintendent, Revenue Department, and Tamizhselvan, Special Officer, Revenue.However, the bail has been given subject to the condition that Chandra appears at the CBI office in Chennai everyday and remains in Chennai from 8 am to 6 pm for the next 10 days for interrogation.Further, he will have to sign at the CBI office twice a day until further orders on expiry of the 10 days.Chandra is also required to surrender his passport.The CBI had earlier registered a case against Ragesh Chandra and a few others for alleged irregularities in the construction of houses under the Tsunami Rehabilitation Project.
