VELLORE: District collector S Nagarajan on Tuesday inspected four town panchayats of Kaveripakkam, Panapakkam, Nemili and Sholinghur and reviewed the ongoing development works.The collector, accompanied by the assistant director of town panchayats A Murugesan and the special officers of the respective town panchayats, went around the Kaveripakkam town panchayat and inspected the bus stand area where he wanted the officials to remove the encroachments besides improving the sanitary conditions there.He also advised them to prepare development plans for the bus stand and submit them for state government’s approval. He also reviewed the roadwork at Kusavan Canal Street.At Panapakkam, while reviewing the ongoing road works in the town, he advised the officials to give top priority to roads repair works, that were damaged due to the recent rains.He visited the Government Boys higher Secondary school where an open auditorium is being constructed at a cost of `6.8 lakh. He wanted the officials to cancel the work order for the construction of passenger shelter at the bus stand area, which was getting delayed.At Nemili town panchayat, Nagarajan advised the officials to repair the passenger shelter at the bus stand immediately. He also inspected the ongoing construction work of a 30,000 litre capacity over-head tank. At Sholinghur, he visited the solid waste management unit and gave suggestions to improve the performance of the unit. He asked the officials to speed up the construction work of filter tanks for the liquid management unit and to explore the possibilities of establishing a gasified crematorium in the town.
