New Delhi: Finally, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S III smartphone is coming to India on May 31. We have received the media invite from Samsung for the launch of the much-awaited Galaxy S III in India, which is scheduled for May 31 in New Delhi. The invite says, "Effortlessly smart, intuitively simple. Join us to discover just how intelligent the Galaxy S III really is."
The Galaxy S III is likely to be priced at Rs 42,500 in India, said a source with access to information on the pricing. However, the company has not yet revealed any pricing details.
During Samsung's Galaxy S III launch event on May 3, the company announced three variants of the Galaxy S III smartphone - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Our source, however, didn't reveal whether the Rs 42,500 price tag is for the base 16GB model or for the top of the line version. But given the price sensitivity even at the top end of the smartphone market in India, the Rs 42,500 price would be for the most expensive version.
Of late, the company started pre-booking for its flagship smartphone for a nominal amount of Rs 2,000.
The phone features a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It has an 8 megapixel rear camera with flash and zero shutter lag and a 1.9 megapixel front camera, which are believed to offer users a wide variety of camera features and face recognition related options.
Weighing 133g, the phone is only 8.6 mm thick. The Samsung Galaxy S III runs Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, operating system. The new Galaxy is powered by Samsung's quad-core microprocessor.
