Congress demands President's rule in Punjab
PCC president Partap Singh Bajwa said that the situation of Punjab has become grim as police are working at the behest of the state government.

Amritsar: Congress on Wednesday demanded President's rule in Punjab, saying there is a "lawlessness" in the state. "There is no law and order prevailing in Punjab...need of the hour is to impose the President rule. Punjab police are supporting the criminals to beat up the innocent people," state PCC president Partap Singh Bajwa said.

The situation of Punjab has become grim as police are working at the behest of the state government, he alleged. Bajwa demanded a judicial probe into the "murderous assault" on Amritsar lawyer Vineet Mahajan and framing of his friend Sandeep Gorsi in attempt to murder case. Both of whom had lodged a complaint of "dual vote" against Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi and several members of his family, he said.

He demanded the immediate dismissal of Joshi from the state Cabinet, saying it was appalling that such a person continued to be member of the Parkash Singh Badal-led Cabinet.
