Cop caught with illegal assets of Rs 1 crore

HYDERABAD: The Anti- Corruption Bureau officials have arrested a head constable of Rajendranagar police station for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.Acting on specific information, ACB sleuths on Saturday conducted searches on properties of Rajendranagar head constable Venugopal Reddy (48) at Aremysamma area near AP Police Academy. “The searches resulted in unearthing of `1 crore worth disproportionate assets, including a house, bank balance, car and gold,” an ACB official said.Following the searches, the head constable was arrested and produced in court. He was remanded to judicial custody on Sunday.ACB sleuths said Venugopal Reddy had been working at Rajendranagar police station for a long time.
