Corporation begins safety audit

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has begun a safety audit of multi-storeyed buildings in the city. Mayor K Chandrika inaugurated the programme at Medical College Hospital here on Wednesday.The safety audit is a joint effort of the engineering department of the Corporation, Fire and Rescue Services Department and the Electrical Inspectorate. The Mayor, in her inaugural address, said that the Corporation has started various initiatives for disaster management in the city. Equipment for disaster management activities would be bought and the operation of the equipment would be entrusted with the Fire and Rescue Services Department, she said. Medical College vice-principal Dr Vinayachandran presided over the inaugural function. Corporation additional secretary Radhakrishna Kurup, ACP C Binoy, deputy electrical inspector K Rajan, Fire and Rescue Services station officer Suvi, Corporation assistant engineer Gireesh and disaster management project officer Viji spoke at the function.
