Death toll in Mumbai terror blasts rises to 18

Mumbai: A man, who sustained severe injuries during one of the three blasts in the city, on Friday succumbed to injuries, taking the death toll in the bombings to 18.

Avinash Tamka, 23, who was admitted in the ICU of Bombay Hospital after the blast at Zaveri Bazaar in south Mumbai, died on Friday, said doctors.

A day after the blasts, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram had said, "Seventeen deaths are confirmed. We also found one severed head that has to be identified. That will take the death toll to 18."

However, city police on Thursday maintained that only 17 people were killed, including a man whose severed head was only found.
