New Delhi: Father of terror suspect Zia-ur-Rehman, Abdul Rehman, who was arrested in connection with the serial blasts in the Capital, approached a city court on Monday seeking bail.
Abdul was arrested on Sunday from south Delhi's Jamia Nagar area for his alleged involvement in the five blasts on September 13 that killed 24 people and injured over 100.
He was the caretaker of the L-18 Batla House premises where suspected terrorists Atif and Sajid were gunned down by the Delhi Police on Friday.
He was booked for criminal conspiracy and forgery and sent to 14-day judicial custody on Sunday.
However, Rehman's bail plea could not be heard as his lawyer withdrew his vakalatnama, a document by which the party authorises an advocate to represent them.
“I am withdrawing the vakalatnama in the interest of nation,” Advocate Santosh Kumar Suman said in his application.
Link Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar allowed the advocate's plea and posted the matter for hearing on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, another advocate, Amarnath, has filed Rehman's vakalatnama and will contest his bail plea in the court.
