Desilting machines given to new areas

CHENNAI: Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development KP Munusamy on Tuesday distributed 20 new desilting machines to be operated in those areas that have been recently annexed to the Chennai Corporation. Procured at a cost of Rs 5,03,000 per equipment, these will be used to clear sewage blocks.These new machines, bought by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, will be operated in Thiruvotriyur, Manali, Madhavaram, Ambathur, Valasaravakkam and Alandhur, all of which have been recently brought under the Chennai Corporation. CMWSSB has already been operating 74 desilting machnes and 86 Jet Rodding machines for desilting purposes.
