BARGARH: The five-month-old elephant calf which was rescued from a tank in Badmal village under Ambabhona block will soon be shifted to Wildlife Rescue Centre at Kapilas in Dhenkanal.The calf, Chandrakant, is being taken care of in a forest nursery at Pipalmunda under Bhatli Forest Range. It was rescued by forest staff with the help of villagers last month. The calf had strayed into the village after its mother died of electrocution in Junani Beat area under Barapahad Hill Range on November 18 afternoon.Bargarh DFO Rohit Kumar Lenka said they had planned to send the calf to Chandaka Reserve Forest but later decided to send it to the Wildlife Rescue Centre.
