KOCHI: The basic facilities included in the Moolampilly rehabilitation package will be implemented on a war footing, said District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth. He said that steps have been taken to complete the distribution of benefits by March 15. Priority will be given to provide water supply and electricity to the plots allotted to the evictees.The Collector has handed over an amount to the tune of Rs 1 crore to the departments concerned. Rs 47.20 lakh has been given to deputy chief engineer, Electricity board, and Rs 12.14 lakh to KSEB division, Tripunithura. Rs 2.90 lakh to Mattancherry, electricity division, `16.60 lakh to water authority, Kochi (PH division), Rs 13.15 lakh to water supply division. Pareeth said that the rest of the amount for undertaking road connectivity will be handed over soon. The meeting also evaluated the progress of works related with road connectivity, power and water supply at the rehabilitation sites of Moolampilly, Kothadu, Mulavukadu, Thaikkavu, Vaduthala, Thuthiyur one and two. Sheik Pareeth said that about five loads of sands will be provided free of cost to those who have been given plots in Kadamakkudi. He also said that a positive decision will soon be taken on the demands of the coordination committee which has asked to provide Rs 75,000 for piling works, to those who have completed the foundation works of their rehabilitation houses. The issues related with the distribution of title deeds to four families from Cheranelloor and Eloor villages was also sorted out at the meeting. S Shanavas, RDO, Fort Kochi, K P Mohandas Pilla, deputy Collector, T I Jose, executive engineer, representatives for the coordination committes C R Neelaknadan and Francis Kalathinkal also attended the meeting.
