KOCHI: Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi said on Thursday that there was a need for developing a kidney bank in all the districts of the state to cater to the poor patients.“A kidney bank is a wonderful idea.All the districts should have a donor registry,” he said after inaugurating the ‘Donor Registry’ of the Medical Trust Hospital here.“Developing a good donor registry just like the blood bank registry will be of great help to the patients with renal problems,” he added.Stating that there was a need for creating awareness against kidney failures, he said that the government would have to focus on developing the facilities at all the hospitals in the state.Ravi said that the Mercy Foundation was planning to adopt kidney patients, for a year or two so that they get the maximum treatment.He said that the foundation was also planning to donate dialysis machines to various hospitals
