Don't like to see women tortured on TV shows: Asha Parekh
Asha Parekh says some of the serials on the small screen are quite regressive.

Mumbai: Veteran actress Asha Parekh, who has been a part of television industry for some time, says some of the serials on the small screen are quite regressive.

After she quit acting, the actress turned to the small screen and directed many television serials, including the mega hit show 'Kora Kagaz'. However, now she is not directing any shows for TV.

"I did a lot of direction and serials. I was very happy with it. There are so many channels, so a lot of things to see on television. There are certain serials that I see, they are very regressive. I get upset," Parekh told PTI.

"I don't like to see women being tortured today. I don't like to see like that. I don't want to see all those regressive things. It should not be like that," she said.

Apart from the daily soaps, the reality shows do interest her a lot, especially the dance shows.

"I do follow reality shows like 'Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa'. I loved Madhuri Dixit. She is an excellent dancer. I am also seeing 'Nach Baliye' and I am loving it. I love to see dance shows," Parekh said.

Considering, she is a trained Kathak dancer, she thinks there is less dancing in films today.

"I think there is less dancing. It is a mixture and fusion of everything. I feel we have taken over foreign dance and forgot about our dance forms. It makes me very upset. We have wonderful folk dance all states have different state dance forms. I wish our folk dance come in the fore," Parekh said.
