KOCHI: The District Planning Committee (DPC) has decided to boost up the renovation works of the canals.District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth informed that a meeting would be convened in this regard on November 15. He also said that the applications for setting up of new plywood companies would not be scrutinised for the next three months. “The applications will be accepted only on the basis of the report submitted by the pollution control board,” he said.It has been decided in the District Planning Committee to conduct an inspection in the industrial units by the District Medical Officer (DMO) and pollution control board.National Health Rural Mission (NHRM) district programme manager K V Beena said that the preliminary works had been started for the Comprehensive Health Programme which is to be started in 2012.She said that the workshops for the local bodies in the district will commence on November 4. Comprehensive health programme will be modelled after the Alappuzha Package.
