HYDERABAD: In a suspected case of sabotage, an express train from Chennai rammed into a truck that was reportedly abandoned at an unmanned level crossing near Shadnagar on Monday morning.Though there was no loss of lives, railway police said it would have been disastrous if the mishap led to derailment of bogies. As the mishap happened just a day after rail roko held by Telangana organisations, police did not rule out sabotage behind the incident. The Chennai Egmore Express bound for Kacheguda rammed into a 10-wheeler truck at an unmanned level crossing between Shadnagar and Balanagar railway stations.“Luckily, the train hit the truck’s rear portion and the vehicle was pushed aside and the train came to a halt,’’ Secunderabad GRP superintendent of police M Kantha Rao said. The truck got damaged completely and the train engine also suffered minor damages. Kantha Rao said they are investigating whether the truck was left on the tracks intentionally or it came to a halt due to a breakdown.“No driver or owner was present in the truck,’’ Kantha Rao said.Police are probing into the sabotage angle as the incident took place just a day after the rail roko in the entire Telangana region.Though the three-day rail roko was scheduled to be held on Monday, the Telangana Joint Action Committee called off the strike after two days. The train left after nearly an hour halt and passengers heaved a sigh of relief.Police said the driver and owner of the truck were identified and they are at large. According to sources, the owner of the truck is one Mallesham, who hails from Hyderabad. Cases under Railway Act and section 4 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act were registered and investigation is on.
