KOCHI: Eight students belonging to the Student’s Federation of India (SFI) were arrested on Friday from Maharaja’s College for allegedly beating up Kerala State Union (KSU) activists of the college.The trouble began with a dispute between the students belonging to different political cadre over the graffiti painted on the walls of the college during the elections.Members of both SFI and KSU allegedly wrote over each others graffiti. This ended up in clashes.Later, at a meeting convened between the students and the teachers, the dispute was resolved and a decision was taken prohibiting graffiti on the walls. A decision was also taken to provide KSU, SFI and ABVP with individual display boards.“The issue was resolved there. But, it was soon followed by SFI members attacking KSU members. They were beaten up with wooden planks. We have arrested eight students. Two members from the KSU have been admitted to the general hospital,” said Ananth Lal, SI of Ernakulam Central Police Station.
