I went to Sikkim with my family for a holiday. It is a cool and rather rocky place. The beauty is beyond comparison. The greenery all around you and the cool breeze just make you want to stay there forever. The steps are rather steep and the coldness makes it tough for you to climb. Hotels are nice and the local menu has many items but the most common thing is paneer. You may find many shepherds over there grazing their animals around. It is hard to find a person who is without thick clothing. There are many holy places around Sikkim. The Indo-China border near Nathu La pass is a bit further from Gangtok. There is a holy lake known as Tsanghu Lake which is at an altitude of 12,400 feet above sea level. Even if you wear two sets of gloves, it will still be cold for you. The lake is very calm, peaceful and beautiful. It is a holy lake and thus no one is allowed to go in and have a bath or touch the waters. But we can have Yak rides near the lake. Landslides are  common in these parts. By any chance if the rock falls down while they are on duty, or even otherwise, the damage caused to both property and human life is immense.Add to this, the fog is thick and it is hard to see. The rains make the roads wet and slippery. Having said all this, Sikkim is still a great place to visit. You can see the Himalayas. There are many museums showing the tools used for trekking and climbing. So if you want to have some fun this is the place you are looking for.Aditya Sattiraju, Class VIII,Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
