KOLLAM: Chairperson of the Kerala State Women’s Commission K C Rosakutty feels that lessons on ‘equality for women’ should be included in the school curriculum. She said that the matter would be raised at a special meeting of Women’s Commission Chairpersons convened by the President of India in New Delhi on Thursday. She was speaking on the sidelines of an adalat held by the Commission, the first one after Rosakutty assumed charge, at the Town UPS on Tuesday.Rosakutty said that enacting strict legislations were not enough to ensure equalrights to women. “The perception that women are second grade citizens often lead them being tortured. If the society has to raise voice against the differential treatment meted out to women, awareness has to be created from a young age,” she said.
