KOCHI: Dissent is brewing in the Ernakulam District Congress Committee with the party gearing up for an organisational revamp. A majority of the district leaders and some of the party councillors are up in arms against the present DCC president, V J Paulose. A section of the leaders told ‘Express’ they wanted a change of guard at the top level. They noted that even the top leadership, including KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and UDF convenor P P Thankachan, were for a change in the DCC. It is learned that the top leadership is not satisfied with the performance of DCC leadership. However, KPCC general secretary and Congress councillor N Venugopal said reorganisation would be a smooth process. He said it was unlikely that a leadership change would take place in the Ernakulam DCC. “As the construction of the new DCC building is going on, there was little chance for a change of leadership,” he said.Asked if there was any rift in the party regarding the activities of the present leadership, Venugopal said there would always certain be persons who would raise their voice against the leadership, he said. It is learned that Paulose had met the KPCC last week and had held discussions regarding the reshuffle. The discussions were going on and everything would be finalised, Poulose said. Some dissident councillors said Poulose had not shown justice to his post. He has not even made open the expenditure regarding the construction of the new building in the DCC, they alleged, and added that no activities were taking place in the district.
