TIRUCHY: District DMK secretary and former Minister KN Nehru on Tuesday denied allegations that the party headquarters had encroached upon a private land for parking vehicles.Referring to a petition submitted to the Collector by a resident, G R Suresh Kumar, the former Minister said he had never met the petitioner and there was no link between the said land and the land on which the DMK headquarters, Kalaignar Arivalayam, was situated. He also said that the DMK headquarters had never encroached upon any private land or pathway belonging to others. Nehru also said he had never helped anyone encroach land and had no necessity to do it.Listing out the names of persons from whom the land for the DMK headquarters was bought, he said a part of the land under the control of the Wakf Board had been taken for lease.The building had been constructed according to the approved plan and the party was paying property tax, water tax and service tax for the building till date, he clarified.
