Ujjain: A former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist, who had sparked a controversy by announcing a Rs 1 crore ‘bounty’ on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, was sent to jail on Tuesday.

Sources in Ujjain police said that Kundan Chandrawat was arrested on Monday and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate's court which sent him to judicial custody for a fortnight. However, the police could not send him to jail on Monday so he spent a night at Madhavnagar police station. He was sent to jail on Tuesday.

In a video that went viral on social media early this month, Chandrawat was purportedly seen announcing a 'bounty' of Rs 1 crore for beheading Kerela CM, whom he held responsible for the killing of RSS workers in the southern state.

After a controversy ensued on Chandarawat’s remarks, he retracted his statement. RSS on the other hand too had distanced itself from it's functionary’s violent views and shown him the door.

Subsequently, a case under Section 505 of the IPC has been lodged against the 42-year-old after the police got hold of the video in which Chandrawat made those controversial remarks.
