Ex-servicemen disappointed as Modi fails to make any announcement on OROP
"Our government has also not been able to implement it till now but I assure you we will stand by it. The way the talks are going on I am expecting something positive," he said.

New Delhi: After the Prime Minister failed to make any assurances on One Rank One Pension during his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, ex-servicemen on Friday hit out at Narendra Modi over his 'failed promises.

Upset over no announcement of the OROP, Major General (Retd) Satbir Singh said, " PM said we have accepted OROP demand, but we have been listening to this for the past 17 months. This is very unfair, we are disappointed."

Some veterans even went to the extent of calling Prime Minister a "liar" and said that the OROP protests would only intensify.

"BJP had said in its poll manifesto that it would fulfil the OROP policy within hundred days of the NDA coming to power. Now we will take our fight to Bihar where elections are going to take place and spread his lies." Singh added.

Reacting to the PM's statement that the issue was complicated, the veterans said talks are in its final stage and a positive outcome is likely to be out soon.

What's your reaction?
