CHENNAI: A Sri Lankan woman was arrested reportedly with a fake passport at the airport here on Tuesday. According to police, Vasanthi (42) was apprehended by immigration officials when she attempted to board a morning flight to Lanka using an Indian passport.The woman had earlier flown to Lanka twice using the same passport. Vasanthi and her husband Sriramalu, an Indian national whom she met in the Gulf, settled in Krishnagiri 20 years back. The couple then acquired an Indian passport through an agent in 1994 and later renewed it in 2004. A police official said, “The woman said that her wedding was registered here. However, we are not sure if she has a marriage certificate.” The immigration officials handed over the woman to the airport police for further investigations. Two Pimps Arrested, Women RescuedTwo women were rescued and two pimps arrested by the suburban police during a raid in a house at Maduravoyal on Tuesday.Acting on a tip off, the cops raided a house at Alapakkam, Maduravoyal and nabbed Baskar (46) of Vellore and Arjun (37) of Andhra Pradesh. DMK Functionary Murdered in SalemA DMK functionary was found murdered at Sivan Karadu, here on Monday night.According to police, Srinivasan (40), the DMK‘s branch president of Sivan Karadu, was found struggling for life at the doorstep of his neighbour with a deep cut on his throat. He died later.The Ammapet police were informed of the incident by the “108” ambulance team. The team had gone to the spot to rescue Srinivasan based on information from his neighbours, but by the time they arrived he was dead.A woman in the nieghbourhood, at whose doorstep Srinivasan lay with injuries, told police that around 4.00 am she opened the door after hearing dogs bark, and found Srinivasan lying in a pool of blood.Police found blood stains on the bed of the deceased and concluded that he must have been attacked while he was asleep. Srinivasan had been a money-lender and possibility of attack from antagonistic clients is also suspected.
