Faridabad: In a shocking case from the National Capital Region, a class 9 student died when the autorickshaw he was travelling in turned turtle after it ran over a pothole on a flyover. The student died on the spot while two others were injured.
"The accident happened when the auto fell into the pothole on Bata flyover and it broke. A child died in the accident. Investigations are on," said police officer Mohammad Indresh.
Authorities, however, are playing the blame game.
Faridabad Mayor Ashok Arora says that the municipal corporation is responsible for the pothole menace.
"The corporation doesn't even have the money to fill potholes. Authorities should at least temporarily fill potholes so that accidents can be averted," he said.
However, the municipal corporation has been dissolved because elections are due.
