CHENNAI: A generous gesture was witnessed at Evoluzione, Nungambakkam recently. More than 10 popular fashion designers across the country came together and joined hands with the elitists of Chennai to help underprivileged children and those fighting cancer. As part of the Joy of Giving Week, Evoluzione, along with the Ray of Light Foundation (an organisation by Dr Priya Ramachandran, a pediatrician, that supports children with cancer) hosted a charity fashion initiative on Tuesday. Fashion designers like Manish Malhotra, Pratima Gaurav, Anamika Khanna, Gaurav Gupta, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Rohit Bal, Manish Arora and many more donated more than five exclusive ensembles from their current season to the fashion store. Tina Malhotra of Evoluzione told that the proceeds from the fashion event would be donated to the Ray of Light Foundation. Says Priya, “We’re receiving enormous help from Tina and her customers for this event. When I spoke to Tina about the fund-raising for my foundation, Tina immediately got in touch with the designers, who are looking forward to such a cause, and agreed to donate all the proceeds from the event to my foundation. It’s a noble gesture from her side.”Also present at the event was Neerja Malik, a counsellor for cancer patients, Apollo Cancer Support Group at Apollo Specialtiy Hospital. “October being the International month for Breast Cancer, the event also created an awarness among many who wanted to be a part of a good cause,” says Neerja Malik. According to Tina, the designers had donated more than a lakh worth ensemble.
