New York: In the men's final top seed Roger Federer will start as favourite when he takes on No 9 Andy Roddick in the men's singles final on Sunday.
The world No 1 will be aiming for his ninth career Grand Slam title.
Federer went into his semi-final match against Nikolay Davydenko with a 7-0 record against him and never looked in trouble and needed an hour and 43 minutes to dispatch his Russian foe.
He made his intentions clear early on breaking Davydenko's serve twice to take the first set 6-1 and went on to hold serve and won the second set 7-5.
He then went on to win the third set and match with the score line of 6-1, 7-5, 6-4.
Federer has already won the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year and is trying for his third consecutive US Open title.
He is the first man in the Open era, which began in 1968, to reach six Grand Slam finals in a row.
"I thought I played really well today,'' Federer said. "I enjoy being on the biggest stage in the final moments."
In the second semi-final between Andy Roddick and Michael Youzhny the first set went to a tiebreaker, where the Russian took a 5-2 lead.
Roddick came back to tie 5-5 but Youzhny won the next two points and the set as well.
Roddick breezed through the second set after breaking in the opening game. He won 25 points to Youzhny's eight. In the third set neither Roddick nor Youzhny could break the serve. The set went into the tiebreaker where Roddick took a 4-3 lead with an ace and won the next four points to clinch the set.
There was one more twist in the fourth set when the Russian battled back from 40-0 down to save three match points but Roddick stayed focused and served out to reach his fourth Grand Slam final.
