CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Association (TNGEA), at its ninth district convention of South Chennai held here on Sunday, urged the State government to fill all the vacancies prevailing in the government offices.TNGEA functionaries in their day-long convention demanded that their association should be accredited by the State.Pointing out the pay anomalies, they said that their pay structure should be revised on a par with the Central government employees. Seeking the State to scrap the new pension scheme, the association demanded that the stipulated pension scheme should be implemented and take over the medical insurance scheme which was implemented in the State.Further, the TNGEA functionaries demanded that those who receive consolidated pay, honorarium, and special grade pay should be given the pay stipulated in the wage board recommendations. Their other demand was to consider the break in services of the road workers due to their interim-suspension for 41 months as service period by the State.They also urged the State to call the representatives of TNGEA for talks to press their charter of demands.During the convention, their executive committee session was held, in which K M Thiagarajan, S Daniel Jeyasingh and M Venkatesan were elected as district president, secretary and treasurer of the TNGEA respectively.
