Gurgaon: A firing incident took place on Sunday morning at the plant of Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL), where workers are on strike in support of agitating colleagues at Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar factory.

According to the police, an empty cartridge has been recovered at the factory premises and an FIR will be lodged.

Workers at the plant alleged that they were intimidated with a gun by an official of Tirupati Enterprises, which provides contract workers to the plant, asking them to end their strike.

"Three rounds were fired this morning by one of the relatives of the owner of Tirupati Enterprises. Some people came and threatened us to end the strike and even threw empty beer bottles... A couple of our colleagues are injured," claimed Suzuki Motorcycle India Employees Union President Anil Kumar.

Officials of Tirupati Enterprises and SMIPL could not be reached for comments.

About 400 workers at SMIPL's plant here have been on strike since Friday afternoon. They are supporting their colleagues at Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar plant, who are on strike demanding the reinstatement of casual workers and another 44 workers who were suspended in a 33-day-long standoff that ended on October 1.

SMIPL's plant produces about 1,200 two-wheeler units on an average working day.
