RAMANATHAPURAM: Five fishermen, who were detained by the Lankan Navy on December 14, have been released, said Arun Roy, district collector, here on Thursday. Arun Roy said the five fishermen, Justin, Chandran, Aliwar, Mari and Padmanaban of Rameswaram, were detained by the Lankan navy near Nedunthivu and it was informed to the State government. Following the efforts made by the State government and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the Lankan government released them. All the released were supposed to reach here shortly.
