KOCHI: Pointing out major flaws in the entrance rank list prepared by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, a candidate with less than 50 per cent marks in Mathematics found place in the entrance list. He was sent back before he was admitted in an engineering college, which noted that the candidate was not eligible according to the eligibility condition stated by the Entrance Commissioner. The candidate (roll no 170137) had secured rank position even as he scored less than 50 per cent marks in the plus-two examination and did not belong to the SC/ST category. In the page no.17 of the prospectus, clause 6.2.2 states that a general category student must have 50 per cent marks in Mathematics to be eligible for the engineering course. Such flaws can make many other eligible candidates lose their position in the entrance list even though they had scored required marks in the examination. Similarly in another case a candidate (roll no 104034) with 43 marks for Mathematics in Plus II examination had secured 5024 position in the entrance rank list. CBSE-ICSE parents forum convener, Sanil Kumar said that such people should not be added in the rank list. “The students without enough marks should not be added in the entrance list at all. The Commissioner for Entrance Examination should ensure that such things will not happen again” Sanil Kumar said.
