Four persons, including three railway employees, were on Tuesday arrested for allegedly cheating 112 unemployed youths with offers of jobs and collecting Rs 1.27 crore from them, police said. The accused are identified as Sesham Krishna, a Group D employee in South Central Railway, K Maruti Mahesh, Chief Office Superintendent and T Rajendra Kumar, an Office Superintendent, besides a businessman Kalyan Kumar Gupta, a Centre Crime Station (CCS) officer said.
The accused cheated the victims by making them believe that they know higher officials in SCR, he said. The victims were promised jobs of TTE, Loco Pilot, Signal Operator, Booking Clerk, Goods Guard etc, the officer said. Krishna, believed to be the mastermind of the crime, even got the youths to write examinations after issuing them fake hall tickets on the Rail Nilyam premises in Hyderabad during Sundays and made them believe that they got jobs and collected the amount from them, police said.
To give the impression that they have become railway employees, Krishna started depositing Rs 10,000-Rs 15,000 towards 'salaries' in the bank accounts of the victims, according to the officer. He said a complaint was registered with CCS--a wing of Hyderabad Police--against Krishna and others after which police booked the accused for cheating and criminal breach of trust under relevant sections of IPC.
