'Gangor' wins award at CIFF
The movie based on the short story by Mahasweta Devi has won a prestigeous prize at CIFF.

New Delhi: 'Gangor', the first Indo-Italian co-production film and based on a short story by well-known writer Mahasweta Devi, has won a prestigious award at the Cinemanila International Film Festival in Phillipines.

The film is produced by Vindo K Wuthoo and Angello Barbagallo in a collaboration between India's Nirvana Motion Pictures and Bibi Films in association with Rai Cinema from Italy.

'Gangor', based on the story 'Choli ke Peeche' by Mahasweta Devi, was awarded the Lino Broka Grand Prize at the 13th Cinemanila International Film Festival at a ceremony at Taguig City in Philliphines on Thursday.

The film has recently won the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Film at the recently-concluded 11th New Jersy Independent South Asian Cine Fest.

The film, which stars Adil Hussian, Priyanka Bose and Seema Rehmani, is also in competition at the 10th Third Eye Asian Film Festival scheduled to be held in Mumbai next month. Gangor is the first Indo-Italian co-production to be in competition at the Rome Internnational Film Festival.

It has been shown at Shanghai, Taipei, Jerusalem, Ischia and Salento International Fil Festivals.
