Follow us:WhatsappFacebookTwitterTelegram.cls-1{fill:#4d4d4d;}.cls-2{fill:#fff;}Google NewsThe Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) has decided to demolish the dilapidated structures in the city which are on the verge of collapse to prevent any untoward incident during the rainy season. After demolishing the structures, it will collect the expenses from the owners for their failure to respond to the notices issued to them. It may be mentioned here that the civic body served notices on owners of 21 dilapidated buildings in the city a year ago asking them to demolish the structures. Of the identified old structures in the city, three belong to the GMC.  Municipal commissioner K Sudhakar appointed a special officer and asked him to submit report on Saturday about the status of 18 structures. According to the report submitted by the special officer, not even a single dilapidated structure was demolished despite serving notices on the owners a year ago. After going through the report, the commissioner directed the GMC officials to take steps on a war-footing to demolish the dilapidated structures and collect the expenses from the owners. With regard to the old structures belonging to the GMC, the managements of PVK Naidu Vegetable Market Complex and two other old buildings filed petitions in court challenging the municipal corporation’s decision to demolish them.
