HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy appears to have succeeded in keeping students busy with studies when the Telangana movement is at its zenith.Kiran Reddy’s announcement that by end-2011 he would fill 1.5 lakh jobs seems to have done the trick. The restricted participation of students in the movement is also an indication they are more worried about their future rather than the formation of Telangana. The evidence that students are busy with preparations can be understood if one takes a peek at coaching centres in Ashoknagar and Disukhnagar, where students do not talk of anything else but the competitive examinations ahead and how to fare well in them. The job notifications to be issued include 50,000 for teachers’ posts (including both second grade teachers and school assistants), 2,000 sub-inspector of police, 22,000 constable, 5,705 junior lecturers, 6,063 village revenue assistants, 1,172 village revenue officers, 369 posts in the fire department, 68 SPF sub-inspectors and 645 constables and 690 posts in jails.Apart from this, the state government has also announced it will issue notifications for posts under Group-I and Group-II, college lecturers and divisional accounts officers. As the police department, SPF, jail and fire department posts will have similar kind of examinations, youths are queuing up before the SI and constable coaching centres in Dilsukhnagar and Ashok Nagar.M Nagiah from Nalgonda district said five including himself from their village have come to Hyderabad to take coaching for SI and constable exams at Dilsukhnagar. As three of their villagers got SI jobs the last time, it has motivated them to take coaching here, he added.Meanwhile, smelling the opportunity, coaching institutes are also collecting exorbitant fees.During the last notification institutes collected `5,000 and `3,000 for courses for SI and constable exams but the new fees are `9,000 and `5,000 respectively. As the department of school education is also preparing to issue TET (Teachers’ Eligibility Test) and DSC notifications soon, coaching centres for these posts are also getting good number of admissions. With the divisional accounts officers, Group-I and Group-II exams concluding recently, the aspirants are taking a break for few days.
