Bangalore: A day after Bangalore police arrested the secretary of the school where a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped, on charges of cheat, the Karnataka Education Department has now said that it will take action against its own officials too, who seemed to have turned a blind eye when the school was functioning illegally. They will also take up a month-long drive against all schools running without the required affiliation.
Education department officials have also visited the school, to take stock of their affiliation status. A notice has also been issued, asking them to close down the kindergarten section of the school as this had no approvals from the government.
Department officials said that they will help parents shift to other private schools, and will also take action against its block education officials who seemed to have turned the other way, when this school violated so many norms.
Karnataka police said, "We have already issued notice to block education officer and also to the DDPI but as far as my knowledge goes, this BEO is new, he has only been there 3 to 4 months, after we'll get reply, we will take action."
When asked about the month long drive Karnataka police said, "In one month, we want to take up this drive. There are some 5,000 to 6,000 schools in Bangalore. So we will send a 3-man committee to check such status of affiliation and have to check the degree of violation... 100 per cent we have to take action against the management, closure of schools is one option."
