Gujarat Government has decided to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to reopen 2012 Thangadh dalit killings.
In September, 2012, three dalit youths were killed in police firing after two groups - dalits and bharwads - clashed at Thangadh over placing of stalls at a fair.
The probe was handed over to the CID Crime, but victim's family members have been demanding a CBI probe in the killings.
Recently, the Gujarat government has been criticised for their inaction in the Una dalit flogging incident. The incident forced Anandiben Patel to resign from the Chief Ministerial post.
Meanwhile, on Sunday Dalit community and rights activists have planned a rally in Gandhinagar, demanding a CBI probe into the 2012 Thangadh police firing incident.
The rally would be organised by Gujarat Anusuchit Jati Atyachar Sangharsh Samiti, in collaboration with NGO Navsarjan.
