St Kitts: Harbhajan Singh celebrated his return to the Indian team by taking a five-wicket haul on the third day of the third Test against West Indies in St Kitts on Saturday.
Recalled after missing the first two Tests in the series, off-spinner Harbhajan overcame an expensive first spell to grab five for 147 in West Indies' imposing first innings total of 581.
India replied with 150 for two at stumps. "When you go for some runs in the beginning it's always tough to come back," Harbhajan said.
"I'm really happy with my efforts, but I know I can do better than this. It is all part of a learning process and I'm still learning.
"Hopefully, in the future, I'll be able to do better than what I've done and what I've achieved so far."
It had been a surprise when Harbhajan was not selected for the first two Tests, especially the series opener in Antigua when India opted to use three inexperienced fast bowlers.
"I don't know if this performance showed that I should have been selected for the first two Tests, but it's always tough to sit out and difficult to see the matches from the outside," Harbhajan said.
"It's all part of the game, you learn a lot when you sit out. "When you watch cricket you still pick up a few things which can be important for you."
The pitch at Basseterre's Warner Park, which is hosting its first match, has been a batsman-friendly surface which has proved unhelpful to bowlers.
"It reminds me of Lahore, it's very flat and you just have to hit the right line and length," Harbhajan said.
"You just have to be patient and keep working hard, you have to keep talking to yourself.
"You have to be brave enough to put the ball in the right spot, give the ball a little bit of air.
"If you are brave enough, you will get wickets on any sort of track." Both of the first two Tests in the four-match series were drawn.
