KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday issued a fresh chargesheet to CPM leader M V Jayarajan who is facing contempt of court proceedings.The court decided to issue a fresh chargesheet after S Sreekumar, the prosecutor appointed by the court, submitted that the already issued chargesheet was improper. The date and place of occurrence of the incident have been added in the new chargesheet.The chargesheet was read out to Jayarajan. However, Jayarajan denied the charges. The trial in the case will commence on August 16. Jayarajan is facing charges under sections 2(c) and 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971. Jayarajan will be tried before a Division Bench comprising Justices V Ramkumar and P Q Barkath Ali. The HC had suo motu initiated contempt of court proceedings against Jayarajan after he made critical comments against judges for banning roadside public meetings during a public speech in Kannur on June 26 last year. The court, after examining available documents, video clippings and submissions by amicus curiae, concluded that there was contempt in his remarks.
