CHENNAI: The headless body of a man stuffed in a trunk was found in an unreserved compartment of an express train that arrived from New Delhi here on Saturday morning. Police said the box was found when railway protection force officials and bomb detection squad were checking the compartment after passengers alighted.Railway police sources said that The Grand Trunk Express arrived at the Central Railway Station at 6.45 am on Saturday. The abandoned metal box was found in an unreserved compartment-- third from the engine. When they lifted the box, they found it unusually heavy. Since stench was emanating from it and there was no address on the box, Railway Police were alerted. When, the lock of the box was broken, they were shocked to find a headless lean body of a man - with legs and hands tied and folded to fit in the box and wrapped multiples times with a black polythene bag. The body was found with a vest and a brief and the man, who could be aged between 40 and 45 years.While the body had an injury mark on right shoulder, suspected to have caused during the beheading, no other external injury was found. The box had an impression of a Hindi newspaper stuck and peeled off, police said. The body was was sent to the Government General Hospital for post mortem. Police said they suspected that the body could have been kept in the train at least 12 hours before and could have been loaded in Nagpur or stations in Andhra Pradesh. Delhi Link Being ProbedThe railway police have passed on information on the beheaded body to police stations in other states as the Grand Trunk Express runs through many states. Starting from New Delhi, the train passes through Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu with 38 halts, officials said.Police said that a headless body of a young woman was found in a gunny bag in Delhi on Friday and they are checking if there could be a link with that case.
