His independence day becomes her last evening

BANGALORE: Soon after the reports of Malini Murmu, an IIM-B student’s suicide at the campus hostel on Monday evening, the Mico Layout police booked a case against Abhishek, who was allegedly, Malini’s lover. Investigations revealed that the accused’s Facebook (social networking site) status provoked the victim to take this extreme step . According to the death note found in her laptop, Malini and Abhishek met in KIIT College, Bhubaneswar. The two were classmates in B Tech course and were allegedly in a relationship since then, reports said.   Police said before the incident took place, Malini had gone to meet Abhishek in Delhi, where he is located. The lovers had misunderstandings and frequently fought over the same. On Sunday evening, when  Malini was returning to Bangalore, the lovers reportedly fought at the Delhi airport. The victim checked Abhishek’s Facebook status after reaching Bangalore and realised the relationship with him was over. It said, “Feeling super cool today. Dumped my new girlfriend. Happy Independence Day,” police added.Depressed over this, she did not attend the classes on Monday and in the evening when her friends went to her room, they found her hanging from the ceiling. Her death note stated that she was committing suicide because she was cheated. She had also scribbled ‘He ditched me’ in her room. Police said that they will summon the accused Abhishek for further interrogation in this regard.
