THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The HLL Lifecare, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has set up a Science Lab complete with apparatus, diagrams and charts at the Cheruvaikkal Government U P School, Akkulam near here. The school, situated close to HLL’s factory at Akkulam, caters to around 70 children of poor socio-economic backgrounds from the locality.At a function held to mark the formal inauguration of the upgraded facilities, the Chairman and Managing Director of HLL M Ayyappan said that the company’s CSR policy gives thrust to three pillars of sustainable development - social, environmental and economical. “Opportunities for education and work should be available to all,” he noted.Ward Councillor V R Sini, who presided over the function, Headmistress of the school K Rajeshwary and Staff Secretary Santhosh Kumar spoke on the occasion. Senior members of HLL including senior vice-president Babu Thomas; unit head Akkulam factory Kuttappan Pillai; vice-president N Ravikumar and representatives of trade unions were present.HLL Lifecare had recently set up a park at Oolanpara Government L P School near its Peroorkada factory as part of its CSR interventions.
