KEONJHAR: Tension prevailed at the Baitarini High School here at Banspal after 51 HSC examinees were caught for malpractice on Saturday. A squad led by former district inspector of schools, Cuttack, Hemanta Jena, and former headmaster of D N High School in Keonjhar, Bidyadhar Palei, raided the school on allegations of mass copying. When information about 51 students being caught for malpractice reached their guardians, standing outside the school, they pelted stones at the squad officials. Manoranjan Chatar of Biplabi Dharanidhar High School, Kanjipani, who was appearing for the exam there was injured besides driver of a vehicle parked inside the school, Pramod Kumar Das. Police and District Education Officer Krushna Chandra Nayak rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.“We reached the school around 7.45 am and found copies of answers being provided to the students by their guardians. Fifty-one students were expelled,” said squad head Jena.
