Nagpur: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal PV Naik will review the progress of various projects and advise Commanders on the challenges ahead during a three day Station Commanders Conference of the Indian Air Force Maintenance Command to begin here from tomorrow.
Performance reviews will also be carried out by the respective branch heads of the Command, a defence release said.
A unique functional Command of the IAF, Maintenance Command has played an important role by providing the requisite maintenance and logistics support to the operational and training units.
The units under Maintenance Command are geographically dispersed all over the country and are engaged in overhaul, repair and supply-chain management, the release said.
The conference will be inaugurated by Naik and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command Air Marshal PV Athawale will chair it.
2011 has been declared as 'The Year of Consolidation and Maintenance'. Hence the focus of the conference will be to identify areas of concern and evolve strategies to enhance maintenance support to operational units.
Senior functionaries of Bharat Electronics Limited and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited have also been invited to participate in these discussions considering the need to adopt a synergistic/symbiotic approach to maintenance issues, the release added.
