An IAS officer was allegedly threatened of dire consequences and verbally abused by a secretary of a private trust and his son, during an inquiry into a theft case in the district on Wednesday, police said.
Police have registered a case against Chhedi Lal Gupta, Secretary of Shree Gopal Ji Dharmada Trust, and his son Deepak for threatening and verbally abusing Sarangarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nilesh Kumar Kshirsagar.
"The officer had gone to the office of the Trust in Sarangarh to conduct inquiry into theft of some documents from there," said, Raigarh Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhagat.
During the inquiry, Chhedilal and Deepak did not co-operate with Kshirsagar and entered into an argument with him, he said, adding that the duo also abused the SDM and threatened him with dire consequences. The duo are yet to be arrested, police said.
