THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A visual feast from Philippines awaits viewers at the 16th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Films dealing with contemporary issues will be the highlight of the Philippines package. The films will also be a reflection of the people of Philippines, who lived under Spanish colonial rule for 300 years and later under the Americans. ‘Century of Birthing’ directed by Lav Diaz will present the story of Homer, who is not content with his profession of film direction and Fr Turbico who is in charge of the local place of worship.‘Clash’, directed by Pepe Diokno, deals with government atrocities. ‘Fable of the Fish’ directed by Adolfo Alix Jr is a poser to the Philippines folklore and Christian beliefs. ‘Independence’, directed by Raya Martin, is a historical work. The film portrays the story of a lonely mother and her son. ‘Kinatay’ by Brillante Mendoza tells the story of a police academy student who later falls into a murder group. ‘The Bet Collector’ by Jeffrey Jeturian tells the story of Amy, a bet money collector. ‘The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros’ is the story of a 12-year-old homosexual boy who falls in love with a young policeman.
